Jody Regan

Jody Regan is an award-winning artist who discovered her passion for painting following twenty-one years as a software engineer.  While earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics at Boston College, she spent many elective hours in the BC Fine Arts Department studying drawing.  She began painting as a student of her mother, New England artist, Joanne F. Regan; and continues her studies with local artist John Kilroy.

Jody paints from life, combining her love of color and design into her oil paintings.   She works on location, and in her home studio.  She has won awards in oil painting, watercolor, and drawing in juried shows in New England.  Jody’s work has recently been accepted into the Academic Artists Society, and the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe juried shows.  Jody is an officer of the North River Arts Society Board of Directors.  She lives in Marshfield with her husband and daughter, and teaches oil painting at the North River Arts Society.

My paintings are representational, but not overly literal. My goal is to capture the moment in time, the idea of the painting by saying less rather than more on my canvas.  While painting on location, my senses are activated.  I want to convey what I feel in the air, what I hear, the scent of the location. I feel lucky because every minute at my easel is joyful, consuming, intense brain work; an irresistible combination. “
